According to a KCStar article, Mary Lou Haeger of Lenexa was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987.
"After therapy and radiation treatments, I realized I needed to change my lifestyle. I needed a better diet and more exercise, real exercise. I threw myself into running, working with weights and aerobics. It helped me as much mentally as physically," said Haeger, who lives in Lenexa. . . . Haeger's role model is cyclist Lance Armstrong, who came back from devastating bout with testicular cancer to win the Tour de France in four times (so far!). |
