St. Charles cyclist Theresa Meyer was struck Wednesday, March 26th, by a motorist who drove off, leaving her injured in a ditch.

Area police are still trying to locate the driver, who left behind nothing but a broken-off mirror. As of April 7th, police are still asking for the public's help in locating the perpetrator, according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch article.

The vehicle is an older model GM or Chevrolet van or pickup. It is missing the passenger-side mirror, which broke off when it hit the cyclist.

The bicyclist, Theresa Meyer, 46, of St. Charles, was riding west on Highway B, near Golden Eagle Ferry Road, when the vehicle hit her from behind and did not stop.

Meyer suffered fractured ribs, scrapes and bruises, and a torn tendon in a finger. . . .

The impact tore off the vehicle's right side-view mirror, which investigators are using in their attempt to find the driver.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Highway Patrol at 314-340-4000.

The March 27th story in the Post-Dispatch quoted Meyer as saying, "I don't know why that person did what they did. I don't have a clue.
