Seven more miles of the Frisco Highline trail, which will eventually create a 32-mile trail link between Springfield and Bolivar, officially opened today. According to a Springfield News-Leader article about the trail:

It's the same strip of land from the Polk County line to Bolivar, but it evokes different emotions.

The old Frisco rail line that runs 18 miles through the rolling hills of Polk County causes different responses: opportunity and aggravation.

Terry Whaley, Ozark Greenways executive director, sees opportunity not only for people who want to travel a full-length Frisco Highline Trail linking Bolivar and Springfield, but also a chance for the area to benefit from what he considers a regional attraction.

The article also talks about the frustration of adjoining property owners with the railroad abandonment and the trail.
