Johnson County spearheading program to reduce ozone in KC area
Monday, April 26, 2004
In the wake of new federal clean air regulations that are almost sure to categorize Kansas City as exceeding the allowed ozone levels, Johnson County is putting together a program to encourage employees to reduce emissions:

Full-time employees in Johnson County who ride the bus, carpool, walk or bicycle to work at least 80 percent of the days during the campaign will get a $100 gift certificate. If 10 percent of the county's employees participate, it will cost taxpayers about $30,000.

The idea is to encourage the county's 3,600 employees to rethink their daily routines to help protect the environment.
The full story is in the KCStar.
