Send an email message in support of these issues in as little as two minutes:
Advocacy: Paseo Bridge Bike/Ped Access: MoDOT is building a new quarter billion dollar bridge in the heart of Kansas City. It could provide the first safe bicycle/pedestrian crossing of the Missouri River near downtown Kansas City. We've been working on this for years and now it's going to move or die forever in the next month or so.
Advocacy: Hwy 45 Bike/Ped Access: MoDOT is building a new highway through Parkville, Missouri. Guess what--their plans for accommodating bicycling and walking are inadequate, plus they forgot to include any funding for them.
Advocacy: Bicycling License Plate: Many other states have 'Share the Road with Bicycles' license plates. Why not Missouri, too? In 1 minute you can show your support.
8 JUN 2004 [Expired]: Support Safe Routes To School in the U.S. Congress
[UPDATE: This alert has now expired. As of August 2004, TEA-21 renewal is moving forward very slowly in conference committee and it looks as though there will be little chance of a bill passing before the elections in November 2004. Faxes or email to our representatives in Washington in support of better bicycle and pedestrian policies is, of course, always welcome.]SAFE ROUTES ACTION ALERT from
AmericaBikes:
Safe Routes to School needs your support! Please put in calls to both your Senators now. This week, Congress is starting to reconcile the differences between the House and Senate transportation bills. Both versions contain a new Safe Route to School program, but the House program is better (more money, better language), and we want the Senate to adopt it. Call the Senator's Washington DC office and ask to talk to the transportation staffer, or just leave a message at the front desk.
** If your Senator sits on the conference committee (see list below) say: "As the Senator works on conferencing the transportation bills, I hope that he/she will support adopting the House version of Safe Routes to School. The House Safe Routes program is stronger and more flexible and will make more of an impact in our state."
** If your Senator does not sit on the conference committee (not on the list below), say this: "I am calling to ask the Senator to ask his colleagues who are conferencing the transportation bills to adopt the House version of Safe Routes to School. The House Safe Routes program is stronger and more flexible and will make more of an impact in our state."
Congress will be closed on Friday June 11th for Reagan's state funeral, so please make calls by the end of Thursday, June 10th. Find your Senator and their phone numbers
