In a KCStar article Saturday, Shawnee, KS, officials played up their bicycle-friendly streets and recreational opportunities as one reason Shawnee is vital and growing:
Shawnee has seen a large spike in its population, with a 12.8 percent increase from 2000 to July 2003.Shawnee is the only KC-area community to receive the Bicycle Friendly Community award (bronze level) from the League of American Bicyclists. |
