According to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch article: The 40th annual Moonlight Ramble lacked the moonlight but not the thousands of bicycle riders who pedaled 19 miles early Sunday morning through St. Louis and, for the first time, into St. Louis County. . . .
Riders departed from downtown shortly after midnight and headed to Forest Park. They went through University City, Clayton and Richmond Heights before returning downtown for a ride by the Arch. The ramble ended about 3 a.m. with a party at the City Museum.
For the first time, riders had the option of taking a shorter 13-mile ride. And another first: several monuments such as the Missouri History Museum, the St. Louis Zoo's free-flight bird cage and the Arch were illuminated for the riders.
