Walkable St. Louis has come to life and is inviting members to join Walkable St. Louis in making St. Louis and the entire state of Missouri a better place to walk.
Mission statement: "Walkable St. Louis strives to enhance the livability of communities by promoting the benefits of walking for transportation, health and recreation and by ensuring a safe and viable pedestrian environment." From the Walkable St. Louis web site: The lack of green space in many American cities isn’t just an eyesore; it very well may be contributing to the prevalence of childhood obesity today, according to some studies on the impact of urban growth patterns. Communities need to create ‘active environments’ that will promote a healthy, active lifestyle for our kids. |
