According to a story in The Oregonian:
That's the point Portland has reached with its bicycle commuters, a critical mass of people who are pedaling to work and creating a chain reaction of yet more people opting to leave the car at home. Even the most conservative estimates show that bike commuting has tripled in Portland since 1991.The story has some good insights into what it takes to create a city that fosters a bicycle commuting culture. |
