The "Fat Cats" of Missouri bicycling . . .
A letter from Missouri Bicycle Federation President Brent Hugh:
Missouri Cyclists,
One of the new things I have noticed in the last year is the surprising amount of power and influence that can be wielded by groups that are soliciting small donations from many people.
This reminds me a lot of the situation for bicycling in Missouri.
We don't have a lot of "fat cats" to pull the load. But even though most of us don't have a lot of money to spend, making Missouri better for bicycling is worth a lot to us.
My friend and fellow MoBikeFed board member Coy Hart, who is retired, has pledged to round up $100 between now and May.
Another friend and board member, Laurie Chipman, gave MoBikeFed Gift Memberships to a few of her friends.
I had to put my own rather modest donation on time payments because I was afraid my post-Christmas budget wouldn't be able to handle it . . .
Could you give even $5 or $10 to help make Missouri a better place to ride your bicycle?
We have an ambitious plan to move bicycling forward in Missouri in 2005. But, frankly, MoBikeFed is a pretty small organization that is very frugal with its money and runs mostly on volunteer power. For us, every dollar really counts.
So we need your help to make it happen.
You can donate online in about 5 minutes. Our mailing address is
Missouri Bicycle Federation, Inc.
Post Office Box 104871
Jefferson City, MO 65110-4871
Through December 31st you can join or renew for only $15.
What do we plan to do with the money we raise?
Why join MoBikeFed?
Hope you're having a happy holiday season!
Warm tailwinds,
Brent
