What to do if you are in a bicycle collision
What do you do when the worst happens and you are in a collision or "accident" on your bicycle?
Michael Colbach, a bicycling attorney from Portland, Oregon, has an interesting FAQ about questions you might have if you are involved in a car-bike, bike-bike, or bike-pedestrian collision. His FAQ includes the answers to such questions as
- Can I recover even if the motorist didn't hit me [yes]
- Can I recover even if the motorist had no insurance [yes]
- Does my automobile insurance cover me when I am bicycling [maybe]
- Do I need a lawyer? How will I pay for my lawyer? How will I pay for legal fees? [Being a lawyer, of course he believes that you do need one.]
