9 JUL 2005: Support a Complete Katy Trail
Friday, July 08, 2005
The Missouri Bicycle Federation is collecting signatures on a petition to keep pressure up on the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, AmerenUE, and Union Pacific, to finalize negotiations to allow a trail to be built to connect the Kansas City metropolitan area to the Katy Trail.

At the same time we want to show our support for Great Rivers Greenway in their effort to connect the eastern portion of the Katy Trail to downtown St. Louis.

We have already collected a few hundred signatures on a petition.

But to really make our point, we need more.

We will send copies of the petition to DNR, AmerenUE, Union Pacific, and Great Rivers Greenway.

You can help out in our effort by downloading and printing the petition, signing yourself and asking friends to sign, and returning it as the sheet instructs.

The petition reads:
I support completing the Katy Trail by creating a seamless trail connection from St. Louis to Kansas City and by making the Katy Trail the centerpiece of a compete, seamless regional trail network. I urge the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, AmerenUE, and other interested parties to move with all due haste in moving to complete the Katy Trail network from state line to state line.
You can download/print the petition here [PDF file].
