Advocacy:
Paseo Bridge Bike/Ped Access: MoDOT is building a new quarter billion dollar bridge in the heart of Kansas City. It could provide the first safe bicycle/pedestrian crossing of the Missouri River near downtown Kansas City. We've been working on this for years and now it's going to move or die forever in the next month or so.
Advocacy:
Hwy 45 Bike/Ped Access: MoDOT is building a new highway through Parkville, Missouri. Guess what--their plans for accommodating bicycling and walking are inadequate, plus they forgot to include any funding for them.
Advocacy:
Bicycling License Plate: Many other states have 'Share the Road with Bicycles' license plates. Why not Missouri, too? In 1 minute you can show your support.
12 DEC 2005: Missouri State University indoor track and cross country programs to be cut
Monday, December 12, 2005
The following announcement was posted to the KCRunning group this week:
The President of Missouri State University in Springfield announced the recommendation today to cut Men's Cross county and Track Programs.
He wants it approved in the Board of Governor's meeting next Friday, December 16th.
Please e-mail the President of MSU and the Board of Governors and voice your displeasure.
The Board of Governors is appointed by Governor Matt Blunt.
The president of the university wants this fast tracked to minimize opposition.
Attached are some stats regarding the program.
President of MSU: Michael Nietzel, e-mail address: mtn797f@MissouriState.edu
I do not know if this will make difference but we cannot let our sport die quietly. Universities all across the country are starting to cut cross country and track programs, mainly men's, because of Title IX.
Thanks,
