Volunteers scour riverfront area where trail will be built

According to a
St. Louis Post-Dispatch article, about 300 volunteers from
Missouri River Relief spent hours picking up trash along the Missouri River in an area near St. Charles and Bridgeton. The
Great Rivers Greenway District is planning a two mile riverfront trail in the area that will be part of the "river ring" system of trails throughout the St. Louis area.
The Great Rivers Greenway is working with local governments to develop an interconnected system of trails and parks around the St. Louis area.
"Our primary goal is to pick up trash on the river, but our other goal is to connect people with the river," Karpowicz said. "It's a great opportunity for people to get to know this great resource that's right in their backyard."
