Columbia has been recognized by the U.S. Conference of Mayors for efforts to reduce car traffic and increase bicycle and pedestrian traffic in the city.
Mayor Darwin Hindman accepted an honorable mention from the group during a City Livability Awards ceremony Saturday in Las Vegas. The award is sponsored by the mayors group and Waste Management Inc.
"I am delighted that the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Waste Management are recognizing the city of Columbia for its efforts in improving the quality of life for its residents," Hindman said in a prepared statement.
