Vital Frisco Highline Trail bridge burns
The second

longest river bridge in the newly completed
Frisco Highline Trail burned today.
The bridge crosses the Little Sac River near milepost 23 of the trail, between the Walnut Grove and Wishart trailheads.
The fire destroyed the recently installed railing and and trail surface on the bridge and severely damaged the underlying railroad ties.
The Frisco Highline is a rail-trail conversion stretching over 35 miles from Springfield to Bolivar, Missouri. Community leaders have been promoting the trail as a health and tourist attraction.
Just prior to the trail's construction one of the railroad bridges was burned and destroyed by vandals.
The trail was constructed and is maintained by
Ozark Greenways.
