European Federation of Road Traffic Victims has much interesting information about European traffic laws and practices. In many European countries walking and bicycling make a much higher proportion of trips than in the U.S., and at the same time the rate of injury and death of bicyclists and pedestrians is much lower. Perhaps the U.S. should adopt some of the strategies outlined here?
