Letters in favor of Boonville Bridge
Monday, February 26, 2007
Letters in favor of retaining the Boonville Bridge and incorporating it as part of the Katy Trail have been appearing in newspapers across the state:
The governor's goal for attracting tourists would be enhanced by the use of the bridge. The time is right for the governor to provide personal leadership in discussions about use of this truly unique national treasure. The proposed expansion of the trail bed will come at some expense to the state. However, obtaining the use of the Katy Railroad Bridge is possible at no cost to the state.
The people of this state deserve a meaningful discussion between the governor's office, Union Pacific and Save the Katy Bridge Inc. in a good-faith effort to preserve this national treasure and truly connect Kansas City with St. Louis.
