Bicycle Advocacy Day a success in Jefferson City
Missouri bicyclists, walkers, runners, and trail users,
Missouri Bicycle Advocacy Day in Jefferson City was a success this year. We had representatives from the Kansas City area, Columbia, Sedalia, St. Charles, St. Louis, and Emporia, Kansas.
Thanks to all those who made the trip to Jefferson City to help out.
Missouri-born cycling legend John Howard was there to receive an Outstanding Missourian Award from the Missouri House of Representatives. John also met personally with a number of key legislators afterwards--thanks to the efforts of our man in Jefferson City, Jim Farrell.
And many thanks to all of you who took the time to email MoDOT and key committee chairs in the legislature to ask for COMPLETE STREETS in Missouri--streets that meet the needs of bicyclists, pedestrians, and motorists.
Thanks to your emails, those two committee chairs took the time (during the busiest week of the session) to have substantial face-to-face meetings with us about these issues.
We would like to continue and INCREASE the number of emails on this subject throughout Bike to Work Week--so please take two minutes if you haven't already:
Ask MoDOT to build COMPLETE STREETS in Missouri
It will take many hundreds of messages to make a real effect on MoDOT on this issue.
