MBF leader/supporter Laurie Chipman receives Environmental Excellence Award
Kansas City area environmental organization Bridging the Gap has awarded Laurie Chipman their prestigious "Environmental Excellence Award".

Laurie spent several years on MoBikeFed's board, including roles as Vice-President, Newsletter Editor, E-News editor, and general advocacy powerhouse.
Laurie really made a difference during her time at MoBikeFed. Now she's moved on to doing her same effective advocacy work within the city of Kansas City, Missouri--and still works very effectively with MoBikeFed and other organizations across the region and the state.
Laurie is indeed one of the (many!) effective advocates for bicycling and walking in Missouri--someone who is really making a difference in her community and state.
From Bridging the Gap's Award text:Laurie Chipman
“It gives me great happiness to ride my bicycle and to grow my own food and flowers, to live more sustainably, so I think other people could enjoy those activities, too.”
Laurie has been a Master Gardener since 1998, always using and promoting organic gardening techniques.
She is one of the main advocates for bicycling as an alternative form of transportation in the Kansas City area, influencing public bridge and road policy.
She recycles in her household and looks for ways to reuse items and to not use disposable items.
Laurie and her husband share one car, but they choose to bicycle, walk and use public transportation as much as possible.
She volunteers for community environmental activities and organizations such as Missouri Bicycle Federation, Kansas City Bicycle Club, Share the Road Safety Task Force and the Mid-America Regional Council; and she leads a weekly group bike ride with the goal of teaching more people to ride the roads safely.
