A state representative, his wife, and other people in their vehicle lied about an accident that injured a pedestrian, prosecutors say.

A little after 1 a.m. on New Year's Day, State Rep. Brad Robinson, D-Bonne Terre, his wife and passengers were in Robinson's truck on Raider Road in Bonne Terre, in St. Francois County. Their truck hit a pedestrian, later identified as Donald Marler.

January 18th, 17 days after the accident, police say they re-interviewed the people in Robinson's truck; this time, they were interviewed individually. Each of them, police say, told them Brad Robinson was driving, not Tara Robinson, and that Brad Robinson had asked his wife to lie.

Tara Robinson had also signed a sworn statement saying she was driving that night. She was charged with one count of Making a False Declaration.

Brad Robinson is facing one count of Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, a Class D felony.
